Stone Coated Roofing Installation
Professionally Installed Stone Coated Shingles
DECRA Roofing Systems originated the stone-coated steel roof tile in the 1950s and is still the undisputed leader in stone coated tile roofing. DECRA is the only stone coated tile we use during residential roof construction and installation projects.
Lightweight, stylish and available in a wide range of colors and textures, DECRA roofing offers the durability of metal roofing without the noise caused when rain or hail hits it. Their interlocking design prevents leaks and withstands high winds, while a proprietary 8-layer coating protects the underlying metal.
History of DECRA Roofing
In the 1950s, L. J. Fletcher of Fletcher Building products (parent company of DECRA) met an English artist who had developed an ingenious way to ward off Nazi bombers from British airstrips during World War II. By painting the roofs of corrugated metal hangars and supply buildings with road tar and sprinkling crushed stone chips on top, the buildings wouldn’t be illuminated by flares dropped at night from German bombers.
After the war, attempts to remove the coating to apply more stylish coverings proved nearly impossible. Seeing how well the coating had survived in the years after WWII, Fletcher realized coated steel would make an ideal roofing material and could be easily stamped into any shape. Over the years, DECRA evolved their tiles from the original tar coating to a stronger acrylic basecoat and introduced new shapes and colors.
Today, DECRA manufactures stone coated steel tile with the look of Mediterranean tile, architectural shingles and hand split wood shake, but with the strength and durability of steel. It’s resistant to freeze/thaw cycles, has a Class 4 hail rating (the highest rating UL offers), can be walked on without damaging the tiles, and rain water run-off won’t harm plants. In fact, run-off is potable.
Best Warranty in the Roofing Industry
DECRA roofing is backed by the best warranty in the industry. Their Limited Lifetime Warranty includes coverage for 120 mph winds, hail penetration (any size hail), and manufacturing defects. Material and labor is covered for the first 20 years, afterward the warranty covers material only.
