Benefits of Using Asphalt Shingles for Commercial Roofs

Asphalt is a by-product of oil refineries, making the material abundant and affordable. It is also easy to install and can be made to fit practically any roofing system with limited installation labor.

Asphalt roofs require less maintenance than wood, metal, and most other materials. Seasonal inspections ensure your asphalt roof stays in good shape, as an unsafe roof presents a major liability for commercial property owners. Low maintenance requirements make asphalt roofing ideal for businesses trying to improve their bottom line.

It should be noted that asphalt roofing is not ideal for completely flat roofs.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is asphalt roofing?

Asphalt roofing is a long-lasting, affordable roofing option commonly used on residential homes in the United States. Asphalt shingles are mostly made up of asphalt, but contain other materials such as felt paper, fiberglass, and other waterproof materials.

How do asphalt roofs compare to other roofing materials?

Asphalt roofing is a cost-effective, durable and weather-resistant roofing material that’s ideal for low-slope and steep-slope roofs. It’s cheaper than metal and wood and gives your business an aesthetically pleasing look.

How do you replace asphalt shingles?

Asphalt roof replacement is typically done by breaking the seal on the existing shingles, removing the nails, and nailing in the new shingles. If roof replacement is done improperly, you could cause irreversible damage to your roofing system. An experienced roof replacement contractor is your best bet for replacing your asphalt shingles properly.

How long do asphalt roofs last?

Asphalt roofs can last up to 30 years if properly installed and maintained. Overhead Solutions offers warranty programs from 10 years up to a lifetime to ensure you get the full value out of your asphalt roofing system.

What kind of commercial buildings typically have asphalt shingles?

Asphalt shingles are commonly used for residential buildings, such as single-family homes, townhouses, and sometimes small multi-family buildings. They are also sometimes used for small commercial buildings, such as strip malls, small offices, churches, hotels, hospitals, public buildings and more.

I talked with Shawn who was very nice and knowledgeable. He was very accommodating to my schedule. He made suggestions as to the kind of shingles to get, but did not push a certain "type". The workers showed up on time and got right to work. No one stood around with nothing to do. They laid tarps all around the house to protect plants, etc. They had a truck in the driveway to put all the old shingles in. Only took 8 hours. Great clean up and the went around the house with a metal rake for nails. Great experience. I would recommend.
